The only people who will not be able to comply are:

        a) engaging in some kind of Tax evasion
        b) using epassporte to launder ill-gotten funds
        c) paranoid and should consider moving to a cabin in the woods, Unabomber style.

        That's my 2cents.
        100%

You cant walk into any bank and give some bogus info, get a card and get paid to it. Hell paypal was even more of a pain in the ass to get an account, and they verified bank accounts and credit cards.

Are you serious? Any of the people included in you a), b) and c) points will make up fake documents in no time. Epass has nothing to check the info that is sent with.

What they are doing in building useless bureaucracy, annoying their customers and putting personal information of users at risk.

And, if so, they are requiring a copy of the front and back of a credit card with CVV code clearly showing. Storing that is not allowed by the card association rules and regulations.

How is my info being stored other than "secure"? If I upload it, then what type of server is it being stored on? If I fax it over, what type of location is it being stored at?

Stop comparing epass to a bank.

I won't submit this shit to epass because the info is NOT secure. If I open a BofA account there is no risk of personal identity theft etc.

At Epass 4 people could just go rogue and walk out with everyones info. Enough to completely destroy peoples lives.

Are you joking? Come on. If you submit this info, I will post this reply in every one of your "omg i got fucked" threads.

I would like an answer to how they figure they can legally store CVV2 numbers?? I am sure that the major credit card conglomerates would not be very happy about this either ...

Where is Chad Bellevue, JD Obenberger, Lawrence Walters, or other internet lawyers who used to frequent GFY when we need them?

Found this tidbit on VISA's website :

                            Card Verification Value 2 (CVV2)

Is a three-digit number imprinted on the signature panel of Visa cards to help card-not-present merchants verify that the customer has a legitimate card in hand at the time of the order. The merchant asks the customer for the CVV2 code and then sends it to the card Issuer as part of the authorization request. The card Issuer checks the CVV2 code to determine its validity, then sends a CVV2 result back to the merchant along with the authorization. CVV2 is required on all Visa cards.

To protect CVV2 data from being compromised, Visa U.S.A. Inc. Operating Regulations prohibit merchants from keeping or storing CVV2 numbers once a transaction has been completed.

As the card that we use to load our Epassporte is not issued by them, for all intense purposes, they fall into the category of merchant for the transaction involving our signing up for an epassporte card!

                              For MasterCard:
                              http://www.mastercardmerchant.com/do...hant_rules.pdf

                              Page 5-2:
2.8.2.1 Disclosure Restrictions for CVC 2 Data
Acquirers, merchants, and merchant service providers may not store CVC 2
data in any manner or for any purpose.
Assessments for failure to adhere to these CVC 2 data use and safeguarding
rules will apply. MasterCard may impose a noncompliance assessment of up
to USD 100,000 for each violation if the acquirer, or any of its merchants or
Member Service Providers (MSPs), fails to comply with these requirements
within 30 days of discovery or notice of noncompliance.
So as you can clearly see, for ANY Acquirers, merchants, and merchant service providers TO STORE CVV2 NUMBERS IN ANY WAY, SHAPE, OR FORM, IS ILLEGAL, AND DEALT WITH VERY STRICTLY ...

Could we start a CLASS ACTION to keep Epassporte honest I wonder??

for all the guys complaining about not feeling safe sending documents, um dont send them and stop using epass....its their fucking company, they run it the way they want...they provide a service, you dont like said service then stop using them...stop trying to crusade against identity theft etc and move on. most of you come off as whiny bitches.

if they said they wont release any funds until they receive the documents then that is a whole different story but MichaelO has already mentioned that they will allow you to get your money and then close your account.

Will uploading these documents mean that the account won't become frozen anymore when it reaches $5k balance?

                                                Michael,

Please send everyone's credit information to the feds, and the Canadian version thereof (probably sitting on horses). I know I pay my taxes, and I have no worries.

                                                Thank you,

I wrote Visa on this, lets see if I get some answer

What is stopping somebody from taking ANY card and scanning it, and blacking out the info?

"Know Your Customer" and related regulations are laws that all financial institutions doing business in the U.S. must abide by, including Epassporte.

There is no simple answer - the U.S. population, overall, is complacent ... they don't mind being watched if it's "for their safety", and furthermore most want to be told what to do...

The U.S. government, like most any government, when left unchecked, continues to expand and further control the masses, and thus such laws, like the "Know Your Customer", are the result...

Digressed a bit, but the bottom line is that until the laws are changed, financial dealings will be ever further scrutinized...

Many banks, brokerages, eCurrency changers (ie. LondonGoldExchange), and even the U.S. Post Office have in the past couple of years, been agressively retroactively demanding ID, paperwork, etc from their current longtime customers.

Ultimately, for many people, the choice will be the lesser of the evils ... providing all sorts of paperwork to ePassporte (and services kinda like it, such as as PayPal) --or-- using a regular bank instead ... my guess is that many more people will insist on payment via ACH (direct deposit), wire, etc to their bank account...

An added benefit of using banks is they must follow many strict rules, and thus one can have confidence their money will still be there, and available for use ... unlike many third-party places, such as PayPal, that have a nasty reputation of losing funds, holding funds, lack of service, etc.

What bothers some of us is "where did the first documents go?" And if they can't keep track of those, then why send them in again. Its not a confidence builder. Ive stood behind Epass for quite a long time, but I must admit Im a bit irked by this. To me its not that we have to send in docs to prove identity. I agree with that, its that we have to do it twice, and why weren't the docs from the first go round kept? Where are the first ones I sent in? It was less than a year ago I sent in docs and told I would not have to do it again.

When i went to use it to use the money i uploaded to it, i couldn't login. I tried emailing there customer server about 4 times and every response i got back was useless. Atleast it only cost me the minimal load amount to figure out its not worth the headache. In a business like that, customer service is the most important thing.
