People seem to be really uncomfortable with strong father-daughter relationships. Just because a father and daughter are extremely close, it doesn't mean they are ready to start fucking each other. My daughter and I are extremely close and always walking through the store holding hands and such and I would never apologize for having a strong bond with her.
If this were my daughter, I know for sure she wouldn't be doing the pseudo topless pictures at all. It's not about whether or not they are innocent or provocative, it's how they are perceived by the public at large. While I could normally give a shit less what the public thinks, when you are making the kind of money she is and are as famous as she is, there are just certain things you have to do, say and carry yourself.Comment

I don't really have a huge problem with the picture of Miley with the fabric around her, although I do agree that it makes her something of a sex symbol, and putting her out there for old guys to salivate over is kind of sick. What's creepier to me is that picture with her Dad! I think it has to do with the fact that neither is smiling -- there's nothing parental about that pose. Okay, okay, so he's trying to be cool...but can't she just be a kid, at least with her dad? I don't know, I can totally see how this is going to make her big bucks and a star or whatever, but I still think that while she's only 15 she should be portrayed as 15...Comment

When I was 15 I never smiled, it was considered uncool and weird to look overly happy. I still think it's weird actually to appear happy all the time. You can't expect someone to be all smiley just cause they are a teen. People can chose not to smile if they want. If they don't want to smile they don't have to!Comment

Here's what i don't seem to get---the pictures of her wrapped in the sheet are much less provocative and sexually thought-provoking than several of the outfits she wears. Even when she left the shoot, she was wearing hip huggers with a belly shirt...
It's just my opinion but if she is concerned about what her young audience thinks, she should stop wearing makeup that makes her look like she's 30 and clothing that exposes alot of skin for a young girl.

A lot of the problem for me is the way these kids like and even Brittany's knocked up sister are presented. A sort of error of holier than thou is put around them by whoever controls their images. I barely know of her (don't have kids) but I saw her on some show a few months back talking about how important it was to be moral and a role model with the inbetween the lines being Christian morals. Heck, that article has to mention she goes to church. So, the message is almost that her parents are better than the rest of the parents that raise little inmoral kids unless they follow the girl as a role model.
Then, they sit on set and let their underage child so sexualized images. I wouldn't let any 15 year old under my control do shots like that and especially not if I was trying to hold her image up as being one of (Christian) morals. She essentially, I am sure, does what she is told. It is the people telling her that need a slap.

I never heard of her before all this controversy. I don't have kids and I don't watch teen shows or whatever kind of show or enterainment she does. I'm an example that her controversy = her advertisement to the world.

I totally agree with you there. I think porn does delude some minds here as sykkboy pointed out. Annie Leibovitz is a well respected and famous photographer. The Vanity Fair photo only shows her bare back! If you go walking along the beach this time of year you'll find girls her age showing a lot more than that. And yet society reacts to this photo like it's such a scandal. Leibovitz has always been about the art of photography. She would never take a photo because Vanity Fair wanted to sell sleaze.Comment
