If you are using cpanel/WHM you can use - whmeasybackup.com I have been using it since January and it does the job. It is easy to setup and it runs using a cron job so you can set it to backup whenever and as often as you like.

You can have it back up to a remote FTP location you can then move the files to S3 or Amazon Glacier for long term archiving.

I use BackupBuddy for all Wordpress backup / restore needs.

        Spend you some brain.

There are plenty of downloaders that will spider a whole domain, keep a couple of local copies, easy to ftp back up, when cPanel fails.

Setup something with Backupsy, use local storage, etc...I keep a 2TB harddrive just for work backup and store the most important ones on a backup VPS as well.

I use CrashPlan. Backs up local files in realtime or periodically depending on your preference, I have it go to both an external HD and their cloud storage for redundancy. It works well and is cheap and they're very user friendly, been a huge boost for peace of mind!

Then I do database exports every so often though that is a hassle. If anyone's got a better approach for those I'd be interested to hear it, once I get fully set up on my new server will be figuring out what to do there...

thx...I forgot to add that I am looking to backup all my sites (hosted through directadmin) to another webhost/ server space...i dont want to download it to my local hard drive...

and the price shouldnt be more than 5$/monthly (i may pay upfront for years), as i dont see point for paying more for simple encrypted tar.gz file transfer (up to 60 GB monthly) to other host...while i wont use any www/ sql and php services/ server resources...just FTP/ secure FTP to host that backup file

                    rsync stands for remote sync.

rsync is used to perform the backup operation in UNIX / Linux.

rsync utility is used to synchronize the files and directories from one location to another in an effective way. Backup location could be on local server or on remote server.
