i like to turn off the lights, stop thinking about business, and watch tv for 20 minutes, history channel or smth downtempo.. (no UFC or action films), then i hit the hay and can pass out relatively soon... albeit 530 am anyways at this point

Read a real book. Those that have paper pages and no buttons.
Try a dictionary or an Encyclopaedia. You'll fall asleep pretty fast with those.

Get offline an hour or more before you try to sleep. I find that once I move away from the eyestrain of the monitor, I "wake up" a little.. so it takes some time to tire out legitimately.

For a voice that'll put you to sleep, nothing beats Bob Ross. The brillo haired painter from PBS (RIP).

last night I fell asleep watching an episode of Nova that I downloaded, day before that was some discovery channel shit... Like whats already been said... watch something semi interesting but presented boring enough that you'll fall asleep.

Worst case you end up learning something... best case you end up with crazy ass sci-fi dreams.
