Was just login in to web profile of icq,and noticed you can login by SMS code only so i tested it and it indeed working.(it gives you 5 minutes to login with it before it expire)Yet people claim how that shitty thing called skype is better. But i noticed one other change as well-there is no more nickname, only first and last name,so what you write as your first/last name is now displayed. So,will anyone in adult implement such login procedure ?
ICQ have collest way to login

Implement such a login process where? And why? (what's the problem it would solve?)

I understand that you saw it on ICQ's site, I am asking about your suggestion/question to have it implemented in adult. Are you suggesting that consumer sites (paysites, etc.) in adult should implement sms authentication?

No i was referring to webmasters sites like affiliate programs, traffic brokers, finance sites,etc...
But even for paysite sites this would be good,as it is more secure then username/password,it would totally eliminate password sharing.Comment

Most finance sites already have two-step authentication in place.
For 'lower risk' websites (such as affiliate programs, rtb platforms, etc.) I see the suggestion as a huge headache, since you would have to enter the unique code you received in a text message every single time you logged in as opposed to using a good password manager.
Same for B2C sites, most surfers either remember their pw or save it or write it down. The one-time code authentication would be an inconvenience. I see convenience more important than pw sharing.
One thing's for sure: the current u/p method is broken and is ready for innovation. Some interesting developments are taking place in biometric authentication.Last edited by Mickey_; 05-19-2014, 12:25 PM.

Using a password manager is indeed fastest way to login to website, but there is still a lot of people who login manually(either by using text file with passes,or remembering passwords)so that would still work for them. Also,i didn't said how that should be only way to login- that would be a bit crazy as not every person have cellphone or want to use cellphone for that purposes.so it should offered along with classic authentication. But still it looks like a best method when we calculate speed and security factors, and since you already mentioned two-step auth, namecheap have sms auth along with u/p auth, and having just sms auth it would be definitely faster yet still secure. Most finance sites already have two-step authentication in place.

I still use it although I've trimmed the contact list to just a few old school friends. Still have a small stack of short numbers.Comment
