    Programs offering free trials without having to provide payment details

    As the title says.. Are there any around?
    Where you would get a 1-7 days free trial account (maybe limited, for example not being able to download videos/picsets), without the need to enter any billing info.. just email. username & pass?

      Why would you want to give away something without getting the ability to monetize it simply?

      I don't think that question expressed what I was thinking properly, but it seems to me like it's the equivalent of say a martial arts school giving away two free weeks of classes, but not getting any information from the guest that would allow them to convert the guest to a student. As a person selling something, you can't let the customer control the sale. Any site who would give a trial without collecting any type of future billing info from the customer is essentially just handing their site over for xx number of days without hoping to convert them. (This, of course, doesn't apply to dating sites and the such that don't give shit away for free other than the ability to log in and see how many hot chicks live near you that want to fuck!)

          A lot of software is sold this way.. You download the evaluation version.. Sometimes it's limited in some features, sometimes it has the same features as the paid product.

          After 30 days you are forced to start paying or stop using the product.

          You get plenty of info from the trial customer.. name, email, etc..

              Free trial you must collect credit card info.

              I am interested in some adult companies who do this and have success. What are the steps for pre-authorization? I asked my rep and did not understand the answer. They charge the card then return it or...?

                      That would take days. Just auth the card and don't capture it. It'll drop.

                          Still do not understand that. There is a way to know enough funds are on the card. And i dont understand how unless you charge it, then void it.
                          It can pass mod10, sure, but how to pre-authorize knowing funds are there and exp. Is legit.

                              Doing an auth is the only way to know for sure. Even if it's only for $1.

                              An auth is just an authorization. Your seeing if the card passes your tests and has money on it. You can do nothing after that and it'll drop. The card won't be charged and in 24 to 48 hours your transaction will disappear from their bill. Or you can capture it and get the money.

                              Mod10 validates a card fits a real cc's pattern. It doesn't validate the card actually has funds.

                                          So what is the difference between doing a $1 authorization and a $50 authorization if it just can drop?

                                          And why is there a 15cent to 30cent authorization fee on straight up transactions?

                                          I was told doing a zero dollar trial could get very expensive with auth fees and cant possibly see how if you have a 30% or higher rebill on the trial. Only reason, at this moment, i am setting a $1 trial is because of my lack of understanding of this authorization process.

                                          Edit: read the link. So no difference in $1 authorization and $50 authorization? If so, shit, i am for sure setting $0 trial. Hopefully gateway allows it.

                                              the first site using the system is www.bestgonzo.com

                                              It is in very very early beta.
                                              To become a member, users only needs to submit an email address.
                                              Videos are then limited to a few minute unless you confirm your email address.
                                              Then they will get a bigger player, higher quality ect and more watch time.

                                              We will be testing different variation and based on the user behavior, we will adapt the limitations to what get the best reaction from the users.

                                              If they upgrade to a paid account they will get more channels, exclusive premium content, have access to their favorite content for life.
                                              No matter if the premium accounts expire, their accounts never expire.

                                              We will add micro transactions and test a bunch of ideas & concepts we had over the years.
                                              We are working on many "freemium" features so people will be able to upgrade free.

                                              Cant tell more for now , but maybe we will see a new era of video Paysite with PPL programs.

                                                  The authorization fee is part of the way your gateway makes its money. Each auth is another fee for them.

                                                  I imagine it could get expensive. I don't offer free or $1 trials.

                                                      My mainstrean i stepped up billing about 800% using free trial. However i dont pre-authorize, just mod10 and my customer base is not up to speed with tricking mod10, and typically have more then enough funds. More then 30% use amex.
