It says (and I quote).

An eyewitness, who asked not to be named, said he saw the arrest by armed police in Bow.

He said the police had machine guns and a man was wrestled to the ground.

So, the police had machine guns, not the fugitive.

This simply can not be true. It is impossible. Not even in Scandinavia where they treat inmates as hotel guests. Something is missing here. Not the full story.

Yes it can you can be given 13 life sentences with a recommendation you serve a min of X years, if he has served 2 thirds out of the X years he can be put into a D class (open) prison where the mentality is to get the prisoners ready and adjusted to civil life before their release,

Not saying this is the case in the story above "but" it can be possible

Kind of related, but my favorite jail thing from another country is Mexico. It seems in Mexico, if you escape from prison or even get caught trying you will get no added time to your sentence.

The reason is they understand all people want to be free and don't think it's right to punish people for trying to be free. Meaning if you ever find yourself in a Mexican prison, it's completely legal to try an escape.

Went to check on Scandinavian countries and found this:

Attempting to escape from prison is not illegal, however, if a person is caught he is required to serve out the remainder of his term.
