Religious types and science deniers in general, replace facts with what ever ideas they are most comfortable with, and then make endless mistakes throughout their lives because of it. They exist in a world of denial, and enjoy unquestioning "belief" in what they are told by anyone (clergy, big business) even when it hurts them, or their friends, or the planet.
