vBulletin - How hard is it to install?
Should I pay for their installation service or try it myself? Anyone tried it recently?

try it yourself... Follow the instruction to the letter.
Database will need to be created, but after that I think it is pretty straight forward.I know that Asspimple is stoopid ... As he says, it is a FACT !

I made the mistake of paying the install fee for the first vBulletin I ever used years and years ago. What a sucker I was. After that, I paid a guy I know to do it for me. What a sucker I was then, too. Once I tried installing it myself and realized how easy it was, I felt like a total jackass for spending so much money on paying to have it installed. It's so easy to install yourself if you have the database created.Comment

All you need is a mysql database and your right hand to do some mouseclicks. Not that hard....Read TOS for signature rulesComment

Dead easy. Even for a technomuppet like me. Don't be afraid of words like mysql.
The hard parts are customising the damn skins / headers, working out how to do banner rotators etc. Neat free mod for the front page vBadvanced.
