People have been saying this for over a decade since the launch of gTLDs .info (2001) and .biz (2002). According to webhosting.info, there are 3.2 million .info and 1.3 million .biz in the current zone file, hardly threatening to .com's dominance with 61.7 million. .com isn't going to lose its relevance. There are milllions of established businesses that have already spent lots of money marketing and branding their .com sites. It's ridiculous to think they're going to switch to a different gTLD without clear and significant advantages.
