What is this dial up you seek of? I'm from the future we don't understand 56k modems.
Man 1998 was the best year - everything was free. Free VoIP phone calls (dialpad.com - which now costs money and was bought out by Yahoo!), Free dial access (netzero.com - why pay 9.95/mo when it was free
), Free .com's (can't remember where but they had little iframe bars on the bottom of your page)
Oh, and radioshack were giving away those "Cats" (the future of the mouse) which could scan barcodes on any product and automatically launch the product website in your default browser. Not only that but it could "hear" also and when an infocommerical was on tv the cat would auto launch your browser again. That thing kicked ass I think I still have one in my closet.Comment

My friend finally bought a computer and ended up with a dialup account. I tried helping him use it and I told him there was no way. He had the option of cable internet too, he was just too cheap to get it.
It's unbearable.
Sadly, there are still some places out here in the countryside that don't have high speed access.
If I was that unfortunate, I would at least get satellite internet. It is horrible and expensive, but slightly better than dialup.Comment

We didn't have broadband where I live until just a few years ago. I live on the water, sort of out from the mainland, and they took forever to get it to us. The entire county had it, just not our little area.
You would not believe the hell that was raised for many years over the whole deal. We had people threatening to burn our Mayor's house down if he didn't put pressure on the phone and cable company.
My ex-husband has several offices so I went there whenever I had a big download or upload to do.

I remember the pain in ass because of dial-up .. I am proud to say that I made a lot of money in adult while I was on dual-up.
btw, you should consider alternatives .. now a days there are a lot, including wireless shit like GPRS, 3G, WiMAX .. or plain broadband, cable etc. If you are serious in making money, get faster connection .. you will save yourself a lot of time. And time is money.Comment
