It rattled the hell out of southern Indiana as well.
I first thought it was an earthquake, then dismissed that idea because of they aren't a common thing for us. Next thought was a tornado, so I was out of bed and into the hallway to get the boys up.
They met me coming out of their doors, and I sent the munchkin into my bathroom. The manchild went up into the living room and called back that it was an earthquake, not a tornado, as there were no winds.
All over in a minute/minute and a half, but pretty freaky, especially coming out of a sound sleep.

I went through an earthquake a few years ago, I was sitting on the toilet and I heard a very loud rumble a few seconds before it hit, I?m lucky I was sitting on the toilet as it scared the shit out of me
I had no idea what it was. It was my first earthquake and I just popped up in my bed and looked around.
On a side note, I've read that everyone was alright. It was only 5.2 and the most serious damage was a porch that collapsed and trapped some lady in her house.

That's my biggest fear. Depending on the depth of the quake, it can actually squeeze sewage lines and force the sewage back from where it came : )

ouch I guess that could be a pretty scary thought.. Thinking it was a tornado and how close it must have been to be shaking your house. Then you were likely relieved that it was only a earth quake.
