Yup, and this is not a great development for most of us - the tubes control a bigger and bigger chunk of the traffic (the latest webmaster-unfriendly Google developments don't help) and have been aggressively making their ecosystems more and more closed. It is a challenge.
Slightly off-topic, I'd love to see some people with a little inside knowledge share the behind-the-scenes aspects of tubesites - it's migrated a long ways from "place where users upload pirated videos and tube makes ad money". A topic for another thread maybe.
james, maybe I don't truly understand the scale of tubes buying content, but I gotta think there's plenty of material that hasn't been snapped up. There are a lot of producers out there, and the paysite market has really really contracted - I have a hard time believing tubes have taken up all the slack. Again I could be wrong.
What niche(s) are you looking for, and how many scenes/month?
