ya, so the retard died, but i read up on the real christopher johnson mccandles and it turned out he was kind of a fucking idiot with zero backcountry knowledge, lol. it turned out the guy wasn't even THAT far off into the wild.... but big ups to hollywood for romanticizing his story and making a good movie, haha. i'm heading backcountry this summer for sure...

watched it and hated it

the kid is an idiot for selling off all his stuff, what a dumb ass, people that come up with ideas like that are just fucking losers that want to give up on life, there is so many other ways to go about living within the normal confines of society and being happy other than just selling all of your shit, donating all of your money and then for some reason instead of heading south and staying warm youre just a total fucktard and head north

kind of lame to burn all his money, etc....dumb if you ask me...

I did it for 7 months when I was 20. Hitchhiked intot he mountains, started off working as a mushroom picker. made about $15 a day, on a good day you'd haul out $50. I was head to toe soot from the forest fire burns I worked on. Bathed in rivers, but was rarely clean. I lived in the backcountry and spent my time in similiar drifter camps living among hippies, dope farmers and fugitives. After a while I hitched further north, made money cutting firewood for a while, wound up moving in with a couple for 2 weeks doing rennos on their house. They fed me and got me loaded and it was a good time, when it was time to leave they sent me on the road with a fat bag of grass to hawk to french hippies in the orchards. Made it further west and setup shop following the fruitpicking season up and down the okanagan valley. Ran into a couple of rad ass hobos there and we bombed around on trains a couple times. Kind of crazy sitting huddled up in the foxhole of grain car. I've slept in ditches, abandoned sheds, caves, under trees, under picnic tables, right next to ignorant ass lawn sprinklers that wake you up at 4:00am. I've ate in soup kitchens and been to more than one free pancake breakfast at the church. Free bread from behind the salvation army is dope when you're starving. I wound up sneaking into a big outdoor rave at some point where I went on a 3 day psychadelic bender, discovered a new love for banging chicks in fuzzy cat ears, and pretty much learnt that there is such thing as too much fun. fall started closing in and fruitpicking slowed down so i hitched further west and eventually made it to the island where i met some bikers through a buddy who turned me loose on some badass magic shroom fields. picked pounds of shams and made pocketful of cash, then hitched all the way home.

it was pretty much the most fun i've had in my entire live, and if i didn't have a set plan on what i was doing at the moment, i'd do it all over again.

i think next time i'll do it in a camper van though, and weeze on peoples unprotected wireless to continue my smut empire...
