I recycle. I wanted to do the right thing, but the city charges $25 a month for the "privilege" of recycling. Instead of paying the city $25 for one month, I invested $25 into two large heavy duty garbage cans and some plastic bags. We recycle both plastic and cans. Every other month I run to the dump with my recycling and I walk away with $50.

We seperate paper and plastic etc from the normal waste, but a while ago they gave us other bins to recycle food but no way are we starting that shit. Rotten food gets put outside in the main bin, i'm not having that lying about the house to stink. I think they are taking things a bit too far now...

Not me. Recycling is a myth, just like global warming, Obama's a US citizen, and no means no.

We have 3 bins. One for garbage, one for recycling and one for organics (food etc). We just leave all 3 in the driveway. Never a smell. Mind you the fucking raccoons try to get into the organic bin.

Find it a pain in the ass separating ambiguous items like paper, wrappers, plastic bags etc... The obvious stuff is obvious, and a lot of the in-betweens aren't so.

                  They got these in Vancouver:

We recycle. The old lady takes crv in herself. Rest goes to city.

Not much, we got only one trash container, but sometimes I drop plastics etc in separate ones that are further away (along my route etc).

Yah, we got a garbage container, one for compost, and a recycling one though you do have to separate the glass out which can make one feel like an alky on trash day when those bottles pile up.

They just started the compost last year and all the conservatives threw a shit-fit, but it's pretty easy. Unlike Scott's setup from the sound of it, compost has an outdoor bin so it doesn't smell any worse than the old garbage did...

If I didn't recycle my trash bin wouldn't be large enough to fit all of the trash.

We have these, so I separate my trash too and I also take old batteries to the closest supermarket, where they collect them.

hehe how can it be a myth? It's real, we do it! I think you are referring to whether its cost effective, that i would agree with mostly. Aluminium is still worth doing.
