The problem is not the sugar in the alcohol. The problem is that alcohol raises your BP.
Raising your BP speeds up the rate the heart pumps and speeding up the rate it shoots blood through your kidneys, causing scarring. Scarring sends you on the road to kidney disease and eventual death if you don't have a heart attack or stroke first.
I have high BP and am taking drastic steps to reduce weight, change diet and trying not to drink. That is hard.
Weightlifting without losing weight first only adds strain to your heart because muscle weighs more than fat.
My doctor at UCLA Medical Center advised me to go on a 1250 calorie a day diet and walk at least 1 hour each day while taking prescribed meds.
No tricks, no games, no plans...just simple way.
After living outside US for 3 months now I can tell you I believe most American food is poison. Wholefoods type stores being the exception.
