Who do you want with the ball at the end of a game?
Jordan or Kobe?

I'd have to say Jordan on this one. Nothing against Kobe but Jordan went through all of the greats to get his rings: Bird, Isaiah Thomas, Magic, Reggie Miller, the list goes on and he's beat them all.Comment

only in that you don't realize it took Jordan 8 years to hit his championship stride. Kobe had a complete game much younger than Jordan did. And he's only now entering the years where Jordan took over.
There's a lot more to come from Kobe. When he's done it will be a much harder question. I'm just ahead of my time asking it.Comment

You were ahead of your time voting for the wrong person too. I haven't seen percentages this one sided since MSNBC showed how much of the black vote Obama is gettingonly in that you don't realize it took Jordan 8 years to hit his championship stride. I'm not arguing that he isn't. I agree with you, Jordan is the best ever. That isn't the question. I'm asking if you have one shot at the end who do you want to take it. Nothing more.
AND we felt like stirring the pot a little with something harmless. Slow news day. We just don't feel right around here without a little drama.Last edited by CosmicTang; 04-09-2008, 10:37 AM.Comment

What you're asking makes no sense. At the end of the game, if I can choose, I want the best player of all time to take the shot.Comment
-
Sure it does. There are basketball people who would call Jordan the greatest ever but consider Kobe a better pure scorer.
Some call Reggie Miller the best pure shooter ever. If I was asked to build a team, it would be around Jordan. And I would have chosen him to take the last shot 2 or 3 years ago. Watching Kobe the last few years made me rethink that. The guy's amazing.Comment

WRONG!...Jordan was hitting clutch shots to win NCAA Championship games while Kobe couldnt read so he went straight to the NBA where he sucked badly for the first few years. Get it right. Jordan immediatly turned the worst team in the league to a playoff contender where Shaq helped KOBE get everything he has including the rings. When is the last time Lakers were good with just KOBE...NEVER. Now he has decent players around him and he still wont win a ring this year. Sorry but check your history.only in that you don't realize it took Jordan 8 years to hit his championship stride. Kobe had a complete game much younger than Jordan did. First of all Jordan HAD to go to college elevate his game. He couldn't make his high school team, remember?WRONG!...Jordan was hitting clutch shots to win NCAA Championship games while Kobe couldnt read so he went straight to the NBA where he sucked badly for the first few years. Yeah, Jordan won those rings by himself. He didn't actually have a good supporting cast around him. I'm sure without Pippen he would have won 6 rings. And it really didn't take him 7 or 8 years to do it finally.
And the question still isn't about who the best player of all time is.Last edited by CosmicTang; 04-09-2008, 11:27 AM.Comment

Jordan is a legend, he sold a lot of shoes, his market value is through the roof. Most people will never really understand it all, due to smokescreens. It's preposterous to believe Jordan didn't have a good team. Every guard must have a good team. You can survive bad teams with centers, not guards.WRONG!...Jordan was hitting clutch shots to win NCAA Championship games while Kobe couldnt read so he went straight to the NBA where he sucked badly for the first few years. Kobe's actual game is all around better at this stage in his career. Jordan had, for all intents and purposes, two careers. One in the paint, and one from the perimeter. Kobe has both games simultaneously.
Kobe is the Ted Williams of the NBA, not the most liked guy and most likely never an MVP due to that.
I would take Kobe over Jordan. I would take Shaq in his prime, over both of them.Comment

People from CA and stupid kids are the only ones who ever ask Jordan vs Kobe questions.
Jordan was clutch. He made things happen at the end.
Kobe doesn't even have a ring yet that can compare to Jordan's. That's because Shaq was THE MAN on those three Lakers championship teams. Had it not been for Shaq, Kobe would have nothing.Comment

With the ball in hands and assuming they won't be passing it, I will say that Kobe is close to Jordan.
However if you look at overall ability on offense and DEFENSE, it is Jordan who comes out way ahead. Jordan is one of the greatest defenders of all time. Kobe does not play defense, so don't be saying that Kobe is better all around.Comment
