Its quite simple... either they can be on the outside, or they can be on the inside. This means business in Dollars and Euros, this means selling oil, timber, minerals. This means trade with the EU and North America. A country can survive on its own... but it can't grow and thrive without trade. Over time, they weaken.
There are no perfect answers. But thats my point. Right now, there is no answer. Not even a bad answer.
.... and Japan only rose in power because pussies allowed them to rebuild their military and build it up. They were violating their agreements and doing it in full view of the world and they had an incredibly brutal history of lashing out at those around them. Their designs were always clear... but ignored. That was the problem. Not embargo's. They could have been stopped at any time by simply enforcing the agreements of the time. Leaders bring other leaders together and they act. Obama is not that guy. He's the opposite. He's the weak pussy that attracts violence because there is no fear of consequences... of any consequences.
