    Advice needed to nail a Top 3 position in google

    I have a site that's hovering around position 5-10 in google for a good money phrase (well, about 20 phrases actually, but the main phrase is my aim), and the sites above me are all aged - one has been around since 1997 for example.

    How can I break into the higher rankings?

    I've been doing everything legitimately on this site, no bought links, no black hat tricks - I want this one as a keeper so don't want to risk it.

    Recip links are yesteryear.

    Suggestions? It has around 3000 inbounds in less than a year and a half, and is very solid site wide.

          Buying links is a mindfield and would probably get you banned, as would shonky BS linkex type schemes.

          Where would you suggest I get them from other than just wait? I hate doing that.

Just call the first 3 in the list and offer your links (and some free stuff as a good-willing gift) to put in their pages and, in exchange, they put your links in their pages. That would put your site in higher ranks if they accept your offer.

                                      I had position 3 for 'Alison Angel' for a month just by updating every day for 6-8 months

                                      lost it quickly once I stopped updating long road to recovery

                                          After calling the 3 first in the list, you ask them if they want to put THEIR links in your site. Yo can give them a thank-you gift if they do that (something they might be interested in) and, in exchange, they should put your links in their sites.
