People on Reddit seem strange. If you ask them to pay for something they get offended, but it you can do it in a way where you make them feel like they decided to pay for it on their own they will.

For example. A guy does an AMA about a new book he released and gets bashed endlessly for trying to promote his book. A few weeks later a guy does an AMA joking about how poorly a book he has released has done and makes fun of himself and he ends up selling several hundred copies and people love him.
