To quote Robbie, "I think it's just that the "hottest" new artists don't have as big of a fan base as the older acts do. " not exactly.
Not about the size of the fan base but the breadth, age span. Lots of new stars have huge fan bases but not of the age group that typically visit Las Vegas.
Plus any show that breaks even or close to it based on ticket sales is a huge win for any casino. They don't book so much to make money from tickets but to get bodies into the casinos and attract attention.
Britney provides name recognition and a wide fan base. Even those who might never have heard her music or been fans know something about her. Scandal sells.
