Any Wordpress gurus in the house?

    Hello GFY.

I'm still old-school; using Notepad++ to build and maintain my websites. But I want to branch out and build a much larger network of sites and I think I'll (finally) give Wordpress a try.

Since I'm so late to the party, I'm pretty overwhelmed by the endless variety of plugins and options. Hoping some of you WP gurus can help to cut through the fog.

Question #1: If you were starting from scratch, and you wanted to build and maintain a large-ish network of 100+ 9gag-style blogs (and maybe some tubes), what's the best stack of must-have plugins, templates, and tools to consider?

Question #2: Is there a simple-ish way to create a default site - let's say a tube - and then clone it exactly over to another domain/server? This could save a lot of setup time for each new site.

Thank you, and apologies if my questions are too Newbie 101 for GFY.

    Hey mate,

I can't really answer to your tube question but there are plenty of add-ons you must have if you want to work with Wordpress.

Here are some plugins I use :

-Wordpress POPUP (if you want pple to subscribe to a mailing list or else)

    -All in one SEO

    -Backwpup (for any backup)

    -XML Sitemap

    -Ad Injection

-qTranslate (if your website is multilingual)

These are a few, of course you will need others, depending on the type of sites you want to build, but since i'm not running a "tube" site, I'm afraid I can't help much !

    Wish you good luck ;)

For #1: it depends what you want to do or why you want the 100+ sites.

#2: yes, you can dupe a template an infinite number of times, especially if it's a wordpress setup. When it comes to tubes, it depends on the cms to which you are referring (if you're actually using one yet).

        :D

duping it is pretty easy, just a matter of creating an export to go live to a new site.

you could setup multisite and write some code to make a default site and replicate it over on new site creation

Thank you for the replies gentlemen. I did find the WP Clone plugin (that over38 mentioned) last night after I posted my questions. That looks like it will do the trick nicely.

I will search out some of the plugins that IsaacX mentioned.

I'd like to find some sort of tool that will take a FHG or zip file and scrape the images into a WP gallery.

Fris, didn't I see somewhere that you make and sell quality adult-oriented themes? I'm specifically looking for a theme that works like EpicPix.com. Do you have a site where I can see your themes?

            Thank you.
