    copycat website

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-26082913

This seems to be the latest (and rather clever scam).

They have set up sites that offer to do things that you can do free, such as pay tax online.

On the radio somone went on (I think this was the site) taxreturngateway.com . The chap filled in the form and a message then stated that the bill is estimated to be £600. He paid it thinking it was the tax bill when in fact it was some huge silly fee.

It will be interesting to see if they can get such sites shut as I do not think they are commiting a crime.

This is a dumb story. It basically covers one womens stupidity to realise that she could have filed her tax return online.
Of course there are sites that do this, they are offering a legitimate service. Some people can't stand the HMRC website (me included).

I have actually used a site for my wifes passport. Cost me a fortune but rather that than trying to understand the home office.
