One thing I don't understand is if you are playing someplace where it's cold and snows, why don't you have a freaking roof over the football field? Duh.

as a Giants season tkt holder I am a huge fan of playing the game in the elements
My opinion: If you schedule the Superbowl in a cold weather stadium that doesn't have a dome, you know damn well you're gambling with the weather. Goodell/NFL should be prepared for shitty weather.
And my opinion, let it fucking snow. But play the game as scheduled. Don't give me this shit about adding to many variables and teams can't play up to par in snowy weather. Good teams adapt. Some great games were played this season in the snow (Detroit @ Philadelphia). I would love to see an extra variable thrown into the Superbowl.

watch the vid brassmonkey posted in post#4, the nfl and goodell are more than ready, the story is made-up by cbs spews.

I admittedly didn't watch the video (or click the link), but this isn't the first time in the past month or so that I've heard this kind of talk. I fell into the "if I hear it multiple times, it must be true" mindset about the NFL/Goodell. My bad.

Sorry, didn't mean it to be accusatory. I just found the news clip funny due to it having goodell and nfl folks on record saying they're moving forward with the game on Sunday but the cbs *experts* talking about the game might not be played Sunday.

Plus there was that ice cold game at Green Bay weeks ago, so if they did not move that "regular" game it would be crazy to believe they would move the finals.

yup.
and that game didn't even break into the top 10 coldest games!

Some players hate the roof!
I'm one of them; the lights fucks with me all game, the air is like breathing through a stale towel and the artificial turf is as hard as pavement.
Turf was hell years ago but it has improved big time so maybe I wouldn't mind turf these days.
The biggest scars I have on my body now were all made from turf when I played.

Mike Ditka has chimed in with all of his infinite wisdom:
?The weather?s going to be a problem,? Ditka said. ?They made a big mistake. The game shouldn?t be there. I mean, it?s stupid.?
Ditka continues...
?First of all, it?s not fair to the players,? Ditka said. ?It?s not going to be fair to the fans. It?s not going to be that enjoyable.
?I mean, I understand it?s the Super Bowl and it?s a privilege to play in the Super Bowl," Ditka said. "It?d be nice to be playing in Miami or San Diego or New Orleans or somewhere the weather is conducive to guys being able to show their talents.?
He's not done yet...
?I?m just saying, if you get extreme cold or you get snow during the game, then it?s unfair to the fans, to the players, to everybody,? Ditka said. ?You?re not going to be able to perform at near the level you?re used to. And the element of luck comes into it, and it shouldn?t happen in that game. That game should be based on the people on the field who make the plays.?
Discussion over.
Wait, remind me what NFL city Ditka coached in again?
80,000 fans are going to be pissed off if that happens. 80,000 plans ruined and needing to be reworked just because some overpaid pussies don't want to slug it out in the elements? That's exactly what 80,000 people are looking forward to.
The NFL won't move the game day. Too big a risk of backlash from pissed off fans who made plans weeks ago.
I'm funner than AIDS, and easier to explain to your parents.

Yeah, I agree with you.
I would be insane mad if I had bought plane tickets and hotel already.

Ditka does have a point though. For regular season and playoff games np, but the superbowl should be in a venue where nice weather is typical or in a covered stadium.
