Since its an acronym for 'graphics interchange format' - pronounce the G the same way you would in 'graphics'.

        Simple, really.

Same here but not for any good reason, just cause "Jiff" sounds stupid.

The debate was resolved more than a year ago. It was on various news outlets. Jiff is the proper pronunciation.

You can call it jiff (as the format creators themselves intended).

I'll continue asking why you're talking about peanut butter.

My gif has a hard G.

The G in "Graphics" is not a soft G. Case closed and there's no argument for that.

Every time someone pronounces it "jiff" a puppy dies. No one who actually works with graphics in the real world calls it a jiff. I'm sure however there are lots of work-from-home outsourcer types would have never actually used or heard it in spoken language with large clients who might erroneously use it without actually looking at what it's an acronym for. Regardless of what the sub moronic creators thought about trying to make a hard G in graphics irrationally soft, it comes across as not knowing what you're talking about.. like walking into a coffee shop and asking for an "expresso".

It's pronounced, JIFF. Like JIZZ, but with two F's.
