I read this book recently called The Metamorphosis of Prime Intellect. It's about a computer that becomes so smart it learns how to replicate its technology until it can bend physics and create any reality, make every human live forever and grant any wish at any time. Basically, it becomes a real god. If you want to have a house in the woods and hunt and fish all day, then you can do that. If you want to turn into a werewolf and have sex with a stadium full of supermodels, you can do that too.

All everyone has to do is figure out the meaning of life for hundreds of years. Once you don't need a job, shelter, food, offspring, etc people start forming cults to torture and kill each other in the most horrific ways you can imagine, for pure enjoyment.

Pretty interesting stuff, and after I finished all I did was think about how meaningless everything really is.

Think about this. After you've died and haven't existed for millions of years, the Earth will probably be consumed by some large mass in space. Yours and everyone's existence will be wiped away and never known again. Why worry about the IRS, when your're just a walking talking meat bag wrapped around a shit pipe that'll end up as particles floating through the galaxy for eternity?
