So this girl walks up and photographs my home

I ask her why, she says her job is to take a photo of every home in the city for a website called Zaio.com/

As a kid people would always stop to take pictures of our houses..

some times they would just stop and say.

      "HOLY SHIT THAT'S A HOUSE!?!?!?"

            of course, why not?

you can take a picture of anything you want that you can walk up to and see from a public place.

It's visible from a public place. I don't see why it isn't. Real estate companies do that all the time.

I don't think so. I've been taking pictures of your "old wrinkled, out of shape ass" using a long lens camera and selling the pics to a tabloid for years. I've had NO trouble selling these horrific images without a release and the magazine has been publishing them without any trouble at all!

You might try closing your blinds or something. You can't do anything about pics of your home.

You should run up the street and tell your neighbours, so they can plant their naked ass against the front window.

I think release is needed from a person who is on the photo.

Btw I guess that chick lied and wanted a date.

Even if there's no identifiable humans in the photo some circumstances may require a property release to be signed before it is used for commercial purposes.

a house isnt a public place its private property. If I take a picture of a office building and plan to get paid for that photo.I need a release from the building or they can sue the shit out of me.

Tell that to Google Earth! They don't give a fluck about your, "release," or anything like that!

You don't need a release in this type of situation, this much is obvious.

Only certain shit man. Example being the Eiffel tower at night only. There are steps one needs to take to prevent such usage. They are just not permitted to step on private property to gain such pictures if someone desires. This also may be prevented if someone lives in a gated community where the streets are typically privately owned.

Really? Interesting since I can bet you can find a picture of your house on your county tax records website And guess what? The person who took that picture got paid to take it.

Maybe you need to sue the shit out of them.

I checked the website in the employment section. They claim around $200 per day, on a per-photo basis. Her story seems to check out. I couldn't quite understand what they are doing with the photos though.

It's funny how recently in TV shows (reality mostly, I suppose) they've started blurring the artwork in the background. I don't remember this until a few years ago.
