My dashboard doesn't get hot. The seats are light grey and they don't get hot. The car gets DINGS and scratches. Just today I opened the white car door and it hit the black car's black door handle (and we are talking about a TEENY TINY NUDGE) and damned if it didn't leave a little white mark.
Now, I'm sure I could drive it on a road that didn't have any rocks, glass or other objects flying from it, or at least drive where there weren't any other cars, or I could park it in the street instead of in a parking lot when I go anywhere (you know I don't go to an office) so that when others open their doors they don't ding me, but I'm not sure how practical that would be ;)
And yes, when the lease it up it goes bye bye and I will never own another black car. Evah!!!Comment

I have a black car. Maybe it was just bad luck but for the first week or so after I purchased it there were a few incidents where it was like other drivers were having problems seeing me.
I now drive with my parkers on.
As for keeping it clean... I'm not fanatical about it, but since I work from home it's usually safely inside the garage anyway. Except when I go for my country drives, there's a few battle scars from those.

black is the best color for a car - hard to clean, gets dirty very fast but it looks great
my last 3 cars were all black, just clean them more often or park them in your garage at night
I think silver/grey is the best color if you dont like cleaning your car though
