Very cool and yes this "could" be very popular.
The key is getting good results. Doesn't matter how nice the presentation is if their results blow.
I doubt Google needs to worry though. The hard part of this is already done if Google wanted to implement it. All they would need to do is make a visual front end. They already have the best search results, etc.

That one looks pretty cool, but the best SE technology I've seen yet, was a engine that linked all the pages together something like this is doing. It gave a preview and then showed lines to other pages that site linked to. So you could click and grab any of the sites and bring it to the front.
You could see how all the sites linked together around the web in theory anyway. I'd like to know how they would combat spam, other than drastically limit their results to "authority" type sites. Really, how would they keep the average idiot searching on their site when their results start getting flooded with thousands of pages of "visually presented" seo spam pages.

well, it looks cool visually but that's about the extent of it for me. I don't like slidey/rolley type navigation things. (don't really know what to call that) Text on a page is exactly what I want and I don't see myself using anything that looks like searchme.com for anything other than a novelty.
