    Did Facebook kill the alot of activity of GFY?

    I seriously think that Facebook might have killed alot of the activity on GFY.. people are hitting each other up via facebook messenger, they're stuck fucking off on games.. they're trolling for business there..

    I replied to a post on a super old thread that got bumped saying I remember 100 replies an hour to threads before.. Those days are long gone.. Some threads barely move any more here.. It's kinda sad to see.. this place was always the most fast paced thing around..

    Though I do think that real news headlines sometimes make it's way to you faster on GFY than anywhere else haha...

                          isn't that more of a personal business level, rather than business?

                          I posted one christmas special for a few groups last year on fb, never did it again lol

                              I can't speak for anyone but myself, but I don't bother with FB (I just don't care for any of the social networks). For the most part, the people we do the most business with are the same people we've been doing business with for years -- some close to a decade now.

                              For us, we do a little bit of business here, but by the time you wade through the nonsense and clutter, the lowballing, the hobbyists, the tire kickers, the endless regurgitation of SEO misinformation and pseudo metrics quoted as facts, the scammers, etc., it can be both time and cost consuming. In the end, the people you do the most business with are those with an actual budget or have already established themselves. That certainly may sound arrogant, and I understand it does. But the reality is it costs money to waste time nickel and diming.

                              I think most business, including business discussions involving any real dollar amount, are done away from GFY and in private conversations. I do more business on Skype in one month, from existing contacts and contacts referring their colleagues to me, than I do in an entire year on GFY.

                                                                          Honestly that is one thing that I am thankful for.. That people are still respecting that minute personal space for the most part... The day that people think it is ok to inundate me with adult industry spam on my personal page rather than app spam to send them some lives on their favorite game of chpice is the day that I will be shutting down my facebook account..

                                                                                          changed careers, I knew a few huge affiliates that the money dried up and they moved on. What is it, 5 different careers in a lifetime, they are on to the next one.

You're a short sided, inside the box thinker if you think Manwin/MindGeek is the reason the industry is dead. You sell templates for tube sites that are based on the same site principals as theirs.. Many site owners who use your template would only hope and dream that Manwin would buy their site eventually.. So... That's like me saying the warez you tout is the reason why GFY is dead....

                                                                                                  A while ago I spent some time going through our banner link page to clean out all the dead links - and was a little surprised at the number of colleagues (producers/photographers in the bdsm/fetish niche) that are no longer active. Some of them were well-known, regular fixtures in the scene...a number of them I recall meeting at the Bondcon shows.

                                                                                                  As you say...likely many of them have moved on to different careers, other endeavours.

                                                                                                                                                      The GFY I first found was a madhouse of awesomeness. Trolls, and noobs have always been a part of this place, but the tubes were the official catalyst that brought GFY here.

                                                                                                                                                      Before tubes, it was possible for someone with no experience at all to buy up a few domains and share in the wealth... Because people use to pay for porn. It was too nice to last, and tubes murdered it. Affiliate sales dried up because the proggies they pushed were all available for free...

                                                                                                                                                      Eventually people needed to decide between sticking it out, or cashing in and running. After I had six straight months of downward trends, I did just that. I sold my sites, sold all my content, and walked away. I never got to the point where I was a proggie owner, I was just a good, solid middle man that did my thing and knew when the time to go had come.

                                                                                                                                                      I suspect now, that a lot of then GFY was exactly the same. Good middle men, the vast majority, and this was where we hung out. The tubes, and the industry reaction to them killed the middle man outright.
