What does this post have to do with my response to Sherm? BTW...the insurgents for the most part have been minority Sunnites and foreign fighters. The Sunnites for the most part were members of the Baathist Party which controlled Iraq. They have been fighting in an effort to regain power over Iraq and the Shias. Foreign fighters fight because they do not like Western countries...which includes Canada...but specifically the USA. Of course there are some fighters that fight because their families were killed by the coalition forces...but in the past couple of years or so there has been more Iraqis killed by Iraqis and foreign fighters than by Coalition forces.When you're running down my country hoss...you're walking on the fighting side of me!

That's still a lot of our men dying with nothing to show for it. I don't see Iraqis waving their white flags in surrender. And even if they did, what do we accomplish?
Their ex-leader is dead. The US leaders aren't pulling back, because they like making their loot while rebuilding what we destroyed. What exactly are these men dying for? The service will tell you that it's for our freedom, but it's really not. It's not to stop a Jihad. It's not to deactivate WMD's. It's not to set Iraqis free (because as was stated earlier, the people in the US don't give a fuck about making other countries happy). It's to fatten their wallets. If it were for freedom and our leaders weren't there fighting, then these people aren't really our leaders, are they?
Wars should be fought by the political heads in every country...Instead they like playing chess with the youth, shedding a lot of blood, making a lot of money, and throwing their countries into economic messes.
I have a lot of love for our soldiers, what they have done and what they stand for. It's just too bad that these political leaders don't give 2 shits about them once they stop fighting.

I would do the same thing, but not if it involved fucking up the lives of others. So far we have young men and women dying overseas for oil and building contracts and we have a HUGE deficit (which is a combo of the housing situation and the war).
The leader is supposed to be for the people. As it stands, his pockets are fatter while the rest of us are getting fucked. How anybody can support a regime that doesn't have their best interests in mind, is beyond me. The dollar is useless overseas, inflation is hitting and we are just about in a deep recession.
Net neutrality alone is enough for me to not vote republican. People need to start looking past political parties, and looking at the issues. Mccain is basically Bush part 2...Do we want another moron leading this country? You already said that you can't wait for Bush's reign to end, so let it end.
I'm not saying the Democrats are any better, but at least there is a chance of a little improvement. After 8 years of this Bush shit, America is now the laughing stock of the world. We're still so nationalistic, that we've fed ourselves with this "We are the best" bullshit to the point that now people are seeing that we are in fact, full of shit. Maybe we used to be the best, but now we are anything but.
I don't care for any of the candidates to be honest...I'm just saying that I doubt a Democrat with a different approach can fuck things up any worse that they are already.
P.S. The president is just a figurehead with veto power...unfortunately Bush likes to use his veto power, so his role has actually become significant.
