But what happened in between steps 6 and 7... finding models? Surely you just didn't walk out your door and find girls to photograph in 5 minutes, right? Would love to hear more about that process.

Nice write up this info is something everyone should read that wants to set up a paysite. There are cheaper ways of doing it but this is a tut that I'd reccomend.

The girl in the Hello Kitty Shirt...Holy Fuck..I have got to take that down. What a fucking mistake.

Basically, I got some business cards, I setup a non-threatening looking Photographer Website and I hit the streets. In 2 hours on a thursday or friday night in Korea Town I can talk to about 30 groups of girls...You have just got to be shameless....completely shameless. Most think you are some sort of freak and just walk away. But I usually get some people taking my card - which clearly says my web address and the amount of $/hour they will get paid. And then a few emails - then comes the scheduling nightmares and the no-shows...ahh amateurs.

I have heard in another thread that finding models on the street could be construed as pandering or solicitation of sex acts. I do not think this is a problem for because I am asking initially for the models to pose in lingerie and possibly nude. Sex does not get into the interaction until the second shoot. My real concern in Korea town is having a crazy boyfriend pop out from behind a parking meter and kick the shit out of me while I'm chatting up his girl (this only happened once - in a bar - I got away unbruised).

The hit rate is really low doing a mass outreach like this, but it is great fun. It helps to simply improve the flow of the interaction and to see how people react so you can improve your pitch when you find a perfect girl to sell.

The best hit ratio is either of these scenarios:

1) Parties - the best place to make the pitch is within the non-threatening confines of a party - this works out great for me in NYC because a lot of my friends are fetish photographers and have great open minded friends.

2) Perfect Girl - This is where you put to work the skills you learn by stopping every woman in Koreatown. I have had great luck in spotting what I call the "perfect girl". She is perfect because she just carries herself in a way that you can tell that she is looking for something hot in her life, but she is not a super slut. I can't describe this, but sometimes its as basic as a certain pair of boots that she is wearing on the subway - and you just know. I probably get 2 models a month by just stopping a 'perfect girl' on the sidewalk.

Great advice, Mike! I really appreciate you taking the time to provide candid answers. Even though I'm not trying to do anything that involves asian girls I think your tips can be applied to other niches. Hopefully one day I will be able to post some how to tips for other newbies!

Mike - as far as the costy private/anonmyous option there are otheres that charge much less - such as domainsite.com (only 0.50$/year) and the yearly cost is also less then godaddy's

Interesting. Did your business cards state that it was adult photography? I'm asking because alot of women get scared off by this because they dont understand the nature of what you're implying. Also, did you run into any issues of women not wanting to proceed further after the "softcore" first shoot?

Great job man, I have set up a few (4) sites myself with half that budget and it took me less than 3 weeks to get it online and start getting signups. It's not what you do, it's how you do it.
