Bryan G, yes there is good music from many different genres. But "no". It is not "all fantastic in it's own way"

A lot of it is crap that is shoved down our throats by the corporate suits.

Kanye is one of those in my opinion.

That's all I'm saying.

And when I asked if he could play any instruments...remember, I qualified that with PROFICIENCY.
My guess is that he can barely play any at all. If he could his own "music" wouldn't sound that way.

I'm not gonna argue music styles and trends. I've always been big on keeping up with the latest big thing.
But Kanye is pretty poor on my list of "artists".

And so are any of these clowns who don't have any real musical ability or singing talent.
From where I sit, they are a joke.

Every era of music, art, and literature has had it's "Greats". And those "greats" are few and far between. 99.99% of all art, music, and literature from any era is...trash.

And that's where talentless fools who can neither play or sing are at. Trash.

I'll guarantee you that the majority of people who have ever purchased Kanye music did so out of the hype that the corporate suits set up ahead of time before the album even dropped.

And as you alluded to earlier...most of them are probably white "wiggers" who want to try and be "relevant" and hip.

And as the OP pointed out...Blacks have a rich history in music. Some of the greatest of the modern era. Jazz, blues, soul...they really were GENIUSES.

I've already mentioned a few. There are a LOT more.

Bottom line is...no matter how many ITunes downloads Kanye may or may not have: He isn't even a pale shadow in comparison to a guy like Marvin Gaye. Neither in musicianship, singing ability, or producing.

Marvin Gaye was a true monster genius and groundbreaking artist who actually spoke for an entire generation of black people.

Kanye is a clown by comparison to the real giants who came before him.
