Unfortunately asking that question was the question that could not be asked.
While
adware is perhaps a reasonably benign form of malware, it still is defined by a large percentage of what would describe "malware" which is really sort of a broad and generic catchall term anyway. So, I am not going to split hairs over it which is why I am asking how others would define it.
Regardless, the idea that we would put any code on our site without being able to vet it out, or even ask questions, just be happy with the sign-ups, was enough of a red flag for me.
Oh yeah... and I asked if he was malware guy and he said yes.
So I guess I had my reasons to be cautious...
