Nothing except mass extinction is going to help the human race. What is really needed to a good old fashion plague to really cut the world's population in half. Then perhaps it would actually take some effort to survive and teenagers might actually have less time to be "bored" and to kill people and have to work to find something to eat...you know, actually do something useful!
