Corruption makes the world go 'round.
It was strange to watch them come. Out of nowhere, couples started coming. The chicks were hot, they all walked around as couples. Then they came and came and came, signs slowly started going up in Russia, then a TV channel, then another, more signs, and so on. It was a full invasion. Strange to see happen. It was like Red Dawn. LOL ;-) Up north it's the Chinese, around the beaches it's Russians.

I used to come across Americans all the time traveling in Asia, now not so much unless I go up north where it's more young couples. But it's just a fraction of what it used to be. 1) It's a long trip. 2) People have less money to spend on travel these days, regardless of whatever recovery the western media goes on and on about. And those who do come seem to be budget travelers, staying in very cheap accommodations. Backpackers and the lot.
But travel among Asians is probably at an all time high. ASEAN is about to open up next year so it's going to be even a bigger mix of Asians roaming about SE Asia.
That said, Forbes just ran an article about Thailand and some other SE Asian nations that are heading towards another 1997 style economic crash. So there is no telling where it's all heading.
