The majority of people who surf the net are on dial-up. That's often forgotten by some of the big porn sites. Even some of the sponsors seem to have this overwhelming need to put huge flash files, tons of graphics, and every other cute "web trick" known to man. All I want to do is see the info, sign up, and then come back and check my stats. I don't give a shit about any of the foo-foo stuff. It just bogs things down or crashes my browser.
There's no plan for dsl here during the next year, but my shitty, shitty cable company has said they'll have us ready for cable modems by the end of summer. I'll believe it when I see it. If not, I may *have* to get satellite. I can't stand it anymore. I've been resisting cause satellite is $100 a month here, and you still have to dial-up and upload at 56k. Plus, the few people I know around here who have it, say it sucks and that it's always going out. I have to do something, though. I'm slowly starting to lose my mind over it and I'm afraid I'm going to kill a utility worker any day now.

Wow, I didn't know dialup still existed in the states!
If you think you've got it bad, when I was in vietnam recently, entire netcafe's ran off one dialup - yep, that's right, over 30 computers on one dialup!Comment

The funny thing was, people there didn't know better, they still loved the internet, even though chat lagged by a few minutes & hotmail took 30 minutes just to load the login page, and the 14" monitors were considered awesome.Originally posted by KDizzla

I was very happy to see my computer when I got home.
