Actually it was the local PD that took him to the hospital in their jurisdiction. However they seem to have brought the sheriffs dept. in on it, when the first hospital turned them down and needed to go to another. At that point the local PD didn't have the jurisdiction to get to the other hospital, but the sheriffs could.
