You are making a very large assumption. You obviously don't know the first thing about how Thailand (or the rest of Asia) works. That's not an attack on you, that is just based on your comments here believing that it really went down the way they told you.

I can assure you NOBODY called, but this is the hotels way of dealing with you. They are not stupid and YES what you were doing WAS illegal there. If ANY of you RUN an adult website and so much as checked your email while there, you broke Thai law. That's the fact and the show organizer is an IDIOT for having this is Pattaya. You are all lucky you didn't end up paying the cops a fat stack of cheese after being ran through the system.

I posted a few days ago on Foogie.com that my assistants cousin works at Amari and you guys were the talk of the hotel. They ALL knew what you were doing and the business you are in.

A few Thai porn cases (mostly from Pattaya) for you. And this is just a few that I know off the top of my head. There are lots more.

Good post, I couldn't have said it any better. In '91 my husband was on a job in Pattaya. His visa expired before the job was done. He went from different Ministeries in Bangkok to the US Consulate, and everybody kept telling him there is no way of getting the visa extended unless he'd leave the country and either travel back with a new tourist visa or apply again at home with the Thai consulate. Two days before he left he sat at a bar in Pattaya and met an elderly German lady, who was married to some Thai big-shot. He told her about his problem. It was 11.00 pm. She made a telephone call and the next day he had an appointment with the Chief of Police. The cop asked him how long he wanted to stay, then opened a drawer, pulled out a rubber stamp, stamped his passport and wished him a nice day. That's how Thailand works.

I am wondering who came up with holding this event in Thailand, for Christ's sake.

It is illegal to produce, distribute or possess. It is illegal if your site(s) are even viewable from Thailand. If you can sit in Thailand and view your sites... illegal. If you do anything while IN Thailand to work on those sites or anything adult related including marketing of those sites... illegal. Checked your email for those sites while in Thailand... illegal. Had information on your computer or in your room regarding websites in adult nature or your sites... illegal.

Those links were just the ones of the top of my head. There have been plenty of guys nabbed just for being webmasters. I don't think you guys fully understand the scope of how illegal doing ANYTHING in the adult business is totally illegal. UNLESS you are Thai, then nobody bothers you.

Bottom line is you guys dodged a bullet. And that is good. But it really was a very stupid place to have such an event. Phuket would have been a better option. Few problems down there.

It would not have been out of the question for someone at the hotel to call the cops, the cops show up and plant god knows what on you, probably yaabaa or child porn, and run you through the ringer to extort all of you for serious cash.

For anyone who went to that event though, you really need to consider if it was worth it. Porn is illegal in that country, and you DONT want to get busted for anything involving that.

2) How did they know the call was an international call?

3) If they did know it was an international call, that also means they would have the number, which means it could be traced back to the caller.

I think the organizer of this event should've kept all details a secret and organised a meeting place where people were then picked up and taken to their hotel.

I don't know for sure but I'm guessing that the details were just listed on the website. This is very dangerous to the organizers and the innocent webmasters who don't know shit about the laws there. In my opinion it's the organizers responsibility to check up on the law and if it's illegal they should at least cover it up a bit.

Anyway, consider yourself lucky. Thai prison is not a great place to be
