Just wondering where all you rich webmasters have your money. If its in the bank as cash that seems kind of risky.

if you're an American, living in the US and earning in USD currency, then you can only move out to a 3-rd or 2-nd world country

silver has a faster growth rate than gold. But gold silver guns and food sound good. Many people are predicting global depression in 2 to 5 years.

I have some cash - a lot in small bills, just in case, and more importantly some gold and silver - again, some in small amounts. I figure this is as important as the food, water, guns and ammo and generator I have "Just in case".

I've never put in more than the FDIC insured amount into one bank but if all goes to shit, I'm not counting on that saving me.

I'm not sure how well it would work as I don't get a lot of sun due to all the trees. I sold my small gas powered generator when I got the full house one so I guess I'm screwed when the propane runs out.

Normally the fed lowers interest rates a shitload to make your return on saving money lower, it encourages spending. And of course, morons go into debt because of the lower interest rates and spend spend money they don't have. Then we are out of a recession. This time is different because there is so much bad debt out there lenders might not lend to idiots. If that is the the case their undisciplined spending will not take place. Therefore we will not have inflation and your money in the bank will not lose value (it also means there will be no quick fix to get out of the recession). It could actually deflate. If you talk to a Realtor the house market is coming around right now, lol, I bet houses go way lower in the next year.

That theory does not consider our president has been worse for the economy than maybe any other in our history. We are fucked long term. While I think your dollar in the bank is safe you might make more investing in a foreign currency for a year until the house market hits rock bottom and you can steal one... or five.

People with money have traditionally stored cash in Fine Art during hard economic times. Take a look at the record breaking quarters the auction houses had recently.

I doubt it'll ever be useless in the country in which we live in..Overseas, maybe.

Regardless, diversification is key. I'm looking into silver, some more real estate in the next year and into Forex.

AMSTERDAM (Reuters) - The U.S. dollar's value is dropping so fast against the euro that small currency outlets in Amsterdam are turning away tourists seeking to sell their dollars for local money while on vacation in the Netherlands.

"Our dollar is worth maybe zero over here," said Mary Kelly, an American tourist from Indianapolis, Indiana, in front of the Anne Frank house. "It's hard to find a place to exchange. We have to go downtown, to the central station or post office."

That's because the smaller currency exchanges -- despite buy/sell spreads that make it easier for them to make money by exchanging small amounts of currency -- don't want to be caught holding dollars that could be worth less by the time they can sell them.

The dollar hovered near record lows on Monday, with one euro worth around $1.58 versus $1.47 a month ago.
