    AOL buys Bebo for 850Mil Cash!

    Got more money than myspace lol isnt that some sad shit for the guys that sold myspace.

    In an unexpected move, AOL has acquired social-networking site Bebo. The price tag: $850 million in cash.

    Rumors had floated over the past few months that Bebo, which has over 40 million members, was up for sale. Reports suggested a $1 billion price tag, but there were few hints as to potential buyers. Though Bebo had already partnered with AOL's AIM messaging client to facilitate friend-invite interoperability between the two services, even the most creative blogger speculation didn't seem to point to AOL eventually buying the social network.........

                              Deliciously web 2.0. $850 million worth...just depends on what AOL can do with it. It's a super ridiculously-high price tag, so I definitely don't have any confidence that they will even make that back.

                                                              Yeah appears to be same as myspace/facebook. Maybe it's the new choice for teens that us older internet dinosaurs aren't privy to yet. It's been around since 2005 though, and is almost in the top Alexa 100.

                                                              I don't know how recent the Company Info data is on Alexa. It lists revenue at $1 - $10million. Great for them to walk away 85 - 850 times their actual gross revenue in cash.
