It's a software update, as far as I'm aware not a hardware upgrade.

Yep. There's no new phone coming out. Just the updated firmware/os which will open it up a bit more to new applications people can develop with the SDK they have released.

Actually, both AT&T and Apple have confirmed that a 3G version is in the works for '08, some publications are speculating mid-year.

Yep, but all the "iPhone 2.0" hype this past week is in regards to the software update.

3G will be nice, but again...they're still tied to the ATT network for the time being.

I'd like to know if blue-tooth audio compatibility for the iPod portion of the iPhone requires a hardware change or if it's just another software upgrade....AND if it's software only, will it be included in any of the updates.
