Guess why we called one of our sites TubeCamgirl (we have other non-free cam sites still). But the fault is not of chaturbate, bongacams or such, it was mfc/cam4 to tube first. Others had to tube the cams too as a reaction, just like tgp's was tubed before. Let (for absurd) mfc stop to allow free shows, most others would stop free shows too.

Ok it is not easy to launch cam sites, but panelists represented the estabilished market leaders, they're not going to encourage others to setup competing cam companies, I guess.

Yah that's what we do, and damn Dutch VAT rate was raised to 21% from 19% as of October 2012. Even Cyprus VAT raised, was 13% on 2002 and is 19% now, no more worth to setup there (and remember the Manwin Germany <-> Cyprus tax drama). Just count this 21% of tax in your stats for euro sales, and that's it.

It's true, established programs don't want more competition... but more than just that, I think they also want affiliates. And so they want to make the point that if someone has an interest in making money from live cams, try working with them, etc.

Barry, I think a lot of the panelists agree. Most felt free is just another business model, and they indicated they all work regularly with the free sites, buy traffic from them, etc.

Personally, I'd be worried a little about free if in their shoes, but it's not quite the same problem as tubes, there is still room to make plenty of money with premium cams.

Even in late Android you don't have Flash, you need to install it in pirate/hack mode.
Simply if Flash not there (iphone, ipad, several Androids), you should use the Apple (Cupertino) HLS streaming with HTML5, which is supported by Android too:

Wowza supports it from 2.x (include audio transcoding) and that's what we use. Apple won in this case.

Tubes monetize with pay cams, it make sense free cams monetize with pay cams too.
The free cams are more a way to keep more guys sticky in the site, better they hang for free in your free cam site than in someone else's, as when it is the moment they buy something, they do from the site where they are, not from where they aren't.
There will be always pay cams, because it is interactive and can be exclusively produced in private by the only specific model the user care at, he will not care to other models he is not in flirt with, even if 1000 models available and naked, he love this specific one and wants to talk her daily.
I can't say the same for pay prerecorded content, you can simply copy it, and the video can not tell the viewer "I love you, I am your gf", this is quite a difference. Of course only a small % of the porn surfers will believe a cam girl love him or finds him handsome and funny (most are less delusional than that), the cams convert a small % of people but they spend a lot, each.
