monopoly is a lot more than just controlling everything and having no other option. It's having the power that comes with being a near monopoly that's problem, and how it's used. Google plays very dirty. It has blocked others from using some of their services. Roku hasn't been allowed to have a Youtube app for a long time and yet the app is available on GoogleTV. It's blocking Youtube on Windows phone by approving then disapproving the app because they know delivering those services weakens their platform.
It ripped off iOS wholesale at Steve Jobs said. It also gives preferential treatment to all its services in product in search.
If you want to see a good reasoning, read the DOJ brief on why they blocked the AT&T T-Mobile merger even though there's Sprint and Verizon.
Aaron Wall of SEOBook also documents pretty well the dirty games Google plays with search.
