I'm getting my roommate to start designing full page ads and tours for practice as he's kickass in photoshop and has alot of talent. I can see him doing it quite well but i need to get him some content to practice with at first and build a lil portfolio. I don't know if he's allowed to use any free content he finds on affiliate progs and all, but something a lil more original and higher quality would be nice.

The peeps offering their free content in this thread, are you allowing webmasters to create their own tours and banners from it if they are promoting your program? In other words editing and slicing it?

If your bud is just trying to get some practice I've seen sets at zipcontent as cheap as two bucks. Worth checking out.
Also I'm sure some webmasters would be willing to let him work with licensed content on their own domains in exchange for banners and small tours. This way he could get some legit practice and build his portfolio...
Just a thought.... or two...

Ya that's what i'm telling him. He's been offering to do some graphics for me but i don't need any for now. He doesn't know shit about the biz and i'm trying to teach him the little i know about it.
I guess i can ask him to do a few byot stuff for me for his practice.
Also how do graph designers get paid usually? I saw threads of GD's not being paid so i take it a contract is in order and getting part in advance is standard.Spam link hereComment

He may impress other designers with his design skills, but will it get a surfer to click on a link to move forward or get his CC out?
Sorry to be negative, but if he just wants to practise on building tours/banners/etc. he can take the content from anywhere, but not show it. If he wants to build a portfolio to get works from then he needs to invest some money or some time.
I suggest he builds a portfolio, by working for webmasters free. They get to use his designs, he gets to use their content and have the design in his portfolio. If he wants to get free content and paid while he practises his porno skills, then I think he's out of luck. Cos if you have not noticed there are some GREAT designers with experience on this board.

Well I love porno so i can give him some pointers. I know he needs some practice and was thinking of giving him some content i would buy for him to practice.
