    New MREs for soldiers...

    http://www.cnn.com/2008/US/03/05/com....ap/index.html

So now me and my buddies can toss puppies from cliffs and go back to our tents and enjoy some nice blackened chicken and yellow rice.

      Meh...

Good for our soldiers! About time we moved to catch up with the French in the quality of what we feed our men in the field. Last I heard, they're the ones that had the "Tastiest Military Field Rations" title.

Yea, the last taste test was a couple years back(that I know of) but I already think our MREs are good. Better than half the shit you can buy at fast food restaurants. Of course, stay away from the cheese omelet one..... ugh god...

During my time we ate (very) well in the field. Always a choice of two different main courses, and usually a third. Visiting American troops would flip out when they were in our squadron lines and ate a meal at our field mess. They couldn't believe it.

We'd even have shrimp and filet mignon at least once during field exercises.

I read once that American Servicemen called them Meals Rejected by Ethiopians.

That was the worst part about basic training. I hated those damned things, and we always had to eat them cold which made them even worse

Those MREs havent changed in a loooong time. They added a couple different types of meals but thats about it. They were changed drastically for the better in the mid 90s. The great heaters were the best addition as well as the different types bread desserts. I think this is just another "look at the good shit that i did" from the goverment that aint done shit but make things harder for the soldeirs to live.
No doubt one may quote history to support any cause, as the devil quotes scripture.
