Clinton (Bill) happened to come into the office and rode a great economy to strong popularity. He didn't have the cajones to go after terrorism with anything more than cruise missiles. He inherited a economy recovering from a recession and war effort from Bush Sr. and played more at domestic happiness while at the same time ignoring many things that are affecting us now.

I did vote for Bush and can't say that I am happy with everything that he's done, but what's my alternative? Gore? Kerry? I don't think I would be any more happy with them having been in office in hindsight.

Regarding Iraq.. which is a huge hot button topic. Bush will either be lauded as the worst president in US history (and there have been some gold ribbon losers there).. or one of the absolute best for sticking to his guns when no one else wanted him to.

The president of the US has access to ALL the information. ALL OF IT. I have to have faith that an elected leader of the most powerful country on earth would take that position seriously and not abuse it for personal interests. If they do, I think the lowest circles of hell will be reserved just for them and their type.

I really think it would be interesting to see Obama or Clinton elected (both don't thrill me at all... I would have preferred Romney... probably the only candidate that had enough business savvy to work the country like a business rather than politics as usual) and go into that first NSC (Security Council) meeting and come out all wide eyed..... Clinton didnt really inherit a great economy and just ride it. I've never heard anyone say he did til now, but it was overdue.

Clinton also fought the republican controlled congress for new wiretapping laws to tap suspected terrorists under the same process that we tapped suspected drug kingpins (sound familiar?). Republicans never presented him a bill, and that was after Clinton literally pleaded with them to send it to him so he could pass it.

I had no great LOVE for Clinton, Reagan, Bush or Bush, but it's not fair to revise history. They all suck equally in certain various areas and do great in certain areas and I dont have a problem saying so because at least it's honest.

I admired the hell out of the senior Bush for the way he handled the Kuwait crisis. He showed great resolve, the generals kicked ass and we stood on a certain moral ground when Bush said NO, we arent going to baghdad to depose Saddam Hussein because the US doesnt practice assasination as a means to change a government in a foreign country who we disagree with. That took balls, and by the way lets not forget that Saddam gassed the Kurds BEFORE that Kuwait crisis and we STILL did not pretend it was a reason to go remove Saddam. His son should have learned a few things from this.. but as GW Bush said when asked if he'd spoken to his father before going into Iraq, he answered "I spoke to a higher father". Something is wrong with the poor guy I'm afraid.

Let's not forget that he also set our Environmental Protection legislation back about 40 years within his first 3 months of office.

Big Science also took consistent and numerous hits throughout his time as our leader.

He's also taken our country from having the greatest budget surplus in its history (we were actually paying down our debt for 3 straight years before he took office) to having the greatest budget deficit of any country, anywhere, in all of time.... It now surpasses 9 trillion dollars.... up over 50% since he took office.

Not to mention what's perhaps the gravest of his errs - violation of Geneva convention law... along with his suspension of habeas corpus... essentially stripping Americans of their 4th and 5th Amendment rights.

All the while, big oil reports record-breaking profits, and companies his family was affiliated with are making more money than they ever had in Middle East development.

I think we should all follow suit with the folks in Vermont, and take steps to insure his administration sees their day in court.
