I moved to Cancun a few weeks ago, and I'm being heavily affected by the dollar low price. It's at 10.50 pesos to 1 dollar, and that really hurts, when in years past it was between 11 and 11.50 to 1.
But the worst part is that here in Cancun there are lots of Europeans buying homes because of the great exchange they're getting, and that's driving prices up, while the dollar keeps going down.Comment

that's actually a minor drop (not even 10%) compared to the rest of the currencies. Used to get 30 Czech Kronen for a dollar, now you get 16 Kronen, everyone has been seeing 40%-60% drops
be lucky you're in Mexico, the peso seems to follow the dollar, compared to the euro it did however drop 30% over the last 5 years, still it's better than what the rest of us is seeing ... fuck the Mexican peso has been more stable than the US dollar, for that count if you were earning Russian Roubles you also wouldn't be hurting nowComment

seven years ago it was 40 Czech Kronen for one dollar.
The bad thing is the cost of "life neccessities" like food, energy, travel, beer
etc. went at least 50% higher since that time, so actually one dollar buys you only 25% of "life neccessities" what it bought you 5 years ago. It doesnt affect me, but imagine seeing your buying power decrease by 75% ....
Of course we could buy cheaper computers, cars and so on....but you dont buy them often.Comment
