    1% Jumping Ship in Record Numbers

    Next time a politician tries to wrap your kids in a flag and body bag to fight for the rich, remember these folks. I'm not necessarily blaming them.

    WASHINGTON -- The number of individuals who renounced their U.S. citizenship jumped to 1,131 in the second quarter of this year, a whopping sixfold increase over the same three-month period in 2012, when just 189 Americans gave up their U.S. passports, as Bloomberg reported Friday.

    Although the departing don't always go public with their reasons, taxes seem to be a frequent complaint. Experts attribute the latest surge to tough new measures to be implemented next year by the Internal Revenue Service to locate and tax Americans' assets held overseas.

              They're hiding their money offshore so it can't be taxed in the first place. That's what's called a loophole, which is a term used for a way to get around something you should be doing. Tough shit. Game over. Pay it.

                      I'm pretty sure there's a tax loophole where you "need" to pay income taxes for X number of years even after you've renounced your citizenship? Exit taxes as well. Pretty shit, no matter how you look at it.

                                  In 2010 the tax code was 71,684 pages. 99% of which were tax exemptions/credits/loopholes. We should have a basic simple 3-5 page tax code.

                                  When your average citizen can't read and understand the tax code something is fucked.

                                      I think its been proven time and time again that top earners don't create the most jobs.

                                          Small business owners create 70% of NEW jobs and account for 50% of total jobs. This is the sector hit hardest by taxes and various regulations.
