Why doesn't GFY make a Forum section for........

All the lame ass contest threads....so we get rid of them here in the main section.....it's getting more and more annoying

There's a section for a lot of stuff that's not even close as annoying as these
fucking contest threads which serve no other purpose than being annoying
by keeping the thread on the top of the first page......

I vote for a contest section and ban all these shit threads to their own
section......

unfortunately, if you segregate the contest threads, the only people who will go and look at it are contest whores. This will make them totally useless. The firms running the contests are advertisers here, so this wont happen anytime soon

I advertise... I like *real* contests... I just don't like the 'lets keep this on the front page forever' threads that reward every Xth post. I wish they'd do away with all those other threads and just make advertisers work for their exposure.... new threads, interesting topics, real contests.

Contest Rules

We all agree that too many contests are annoying and fuel post whores. So:

1. No 'most posts in a thread contests'. Max 100 posts in a thread by one person.

2. No one registered in less than 60 days before can post in a contest thread.

3. Contests can't run more than 10 days. And no more than 3 contests at a time. And since only top advertisers can run contests, you need to coordinate with Eric BEFORE starting a contest.

Do you think any real webmasters look at those damn contest threads anyway? I can't think of 5 contest threads that I've opened in the past 6 months to see what was inside.

I think contest threads have to be moderated better. Shut them down after 10 days or so like whats supposed to happen. Sometimes you come here and there are 10+ on the first page. Its only that loser Jet and his little buddies who post in them to try to make rent for the month.

vBulletin needs an add on where you can click on a thread and put it on ignore like you would a poster, then refresh the page and you don't see the offending thread.
don't want to do it in vBulletin? then make it a Firefox extension.

Personally, i think they should give webmaster prizes, so that way you can get rid of the hardcore contest whores.

something like a free copy of dreamweaver, or a subscription to statsremote.

but its the contest whores that keep it on page 1, so it wouldnt work
